  25. Where did you get the version that you have?  Here is our standard blurb
  26. about the real way to get C-Kermit for UNIX (*including* Linux):

  28. anonymous ftp to kermit.columbia edu, directory kermit/archives,
  29. binary mode, file cku190.tar.Z (or .gz for gunzip).  Uncompress,
  30. untar, read the instructions at the top of the makefile, and then
  31. give the appropriate "make" command, for example:
  32.  
  33.   make linux
  34.   make solaris2x
  35.   make hpux90
  36.  
  37. which should produce an executable called "wermit".  Try it out
  38. and if it's OK, install it as "kermit" in the desired location,
  39. such as /usr/local/bin.  Read the ckuins.doc file for additional
  40. installation instructions.
